Music Ministry

Music plays a vital role in worship here at Fort Johnson Baptist Church. Christians have included music in one form or another in worship since the church's beginning. In keeping with that time-honored tradition, Fort Johnson maintains a diverse music ministry that brings honor and glory to God, and offers many opportunities for involvement to people of all ages.

Whether you attend our Traditional Worship Service or the Contemporary Worship Service, you will immediately see that music is central to our worship. Fort Johnson recognizes the varied backgrounds of visitors and members alike, and reflects that in its services. While many churches seek to "blend" worship styles, Fort Johnson seeks to allow each type of service to reach its maximum potential by keeping the traditional and contemporary worship styles separate.

Thus, if you attend a Traditional service, you will be welcomed by the beautiful strains of the Organ, which greets worshippers as they enter the Sanctuary before services begin. During this service, the great hymns of faith so familiar to generations of Christians are sung; the sanctuary choir sings an anthem; music is accompanied by the Organ, our Concert Grand Piano, and our new Instrumental Ensemble; and clothing styles tend to look more traditional, although casual dress is welcomed at all meetings of Fort Johnson. The Traditional Service is held Sunday mornings at 11:00, with the Organ Prelude beginning at 10:45. Small group Bible study is held prior to services.
