Ministries
At Fort Johnson, we recognize two scriptural officers: Pastor and Deacon. Deacons are servants of the church and serve two year terms. According to Acts 6:14 and 1 Timothy 3:8-13, deacons are men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, responsible, devoted to prayer and the ministry of the Word, dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to alcohol, honest in business, have a clear conscience, tested beyond reproach, husbands of one wife, and good managers of their home. As the Holy Spirit directs, our deacons have the following duties:
Deacons guard the unity of the church and support the pastoral staff.
Deacons pledge to tithe through the church and are active in the work of the church.
Deacons participate in the worship services of the church and assist the Senior Pastor in the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
Deacons meet with the Senior Pastor each month to survey the progress of the total ministry of the church.
Deacons consider the progress of the church in all things related to saving the lost, Christian growth and maturity, and the expansion of our ministry.
Deacons model the Christian life for the benefit of the church.
