Your Wedding at Fort Johnson Baptist Church

Congratulations on your engagement!  As you begin preparing for your wedding, we'd like to help you also prepare for a lifelong, loving, and grace-filled marriage.  There are many resources available to you here at Fort Johnson.

The pre-wedding process takes about four months.  During that time, we'd like you to join a pre-marital small group, meet with one of our pastors for pre-marital counseling (six one-hour sessions), and plan your wedding with the assistance of our wedding coordinator.

A wedding may be held any time at Fort Johnson Baptist Church except:

  1. after 2 p.m. on Saturdays (due to Saturday evening worship at FJBC)
  2. before 2 p.m. on Sundays (due to Sunday morning worship at FJBC)

The bride and/or groom must be an active member of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, and the couple may not be living in co-habitation.

Contracting wedding parties should

  1. Call the church office to have your event placed on the FJBC calendar.
  2. Contact one of the FJBC pastors to coordinate his calendar with the wedding date.
  3. Submit a damage deposit to the church, which may be applied to the cost of repairs or non-routine maintenance to the premises.  The contracting party also agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Fort Johnson Baptist Church, its agent and employees against any and all claims and liability for damage, whether to a person or property that may arise during the wedding event.  The contracting party agrees to pay in full for any damages or expense incurred by Fort Johnson Baptist Church as a result of their use of premises.
  4. Give an honorarium to the officiating pastor, sound operator, MediaShout specialist (if pictures or video is involved), wedding coordinator, custodial staff, and organist (if needed).
  5. Abide by the laws of the State of South Carolina, County of Charleston and the rules and regulations of Fort Johnson Baptist Church while guests of the church campus:
  • Be solely responsible for the behavior and safety of the persons in attendance at your function.  At the request of Fort Johnson Baptist Church, provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance Coverage, naming Fort Johnson Baptist as "Additional Insured."
  • Agree not to serve or consume alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs.  Prohibit any smoking of cigarettes, cigars or pipes in the building or on the grounds of Fort Johnson Baptist Church.  In addition, assure that all candles are displayed safely and in glass containers, such as hurricane globes, holders, etc.
  • Prohibit the use of items that may scar or deface the premises ~~ i.e., tools, tapes, equipment, nails /tacks, decorations.
  • Toss only bird seeds on grass areas of property, not sidewalks, steps or parking lot (no rice).
  • Florist and decorators are responsible for removing all arrangements at event's end, and should schedule decorating around worship times.
  • Bridal party and guests will agree to have vacated the SANCTUARY by 4 p.m. and the FELLOWSHIP HALL by 5:15 p.m. on Saturdays due to Saturday night worship and small group Bible study.
